Jammu and Kashmir RTI Movement is an organization of committed volunteers who work selflessly to ensure accountability and transparency in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
This organization is a people's movement working on Good Governance, Transparency and accountability and sustainale development using the Right to Information Act (RTI) as a tool. We also do advocacy on RTI Act 2005 and its better implementation in Jammu and Kashmir. The movement consists of people belonging to different walks of life – We have senior citizens , young men and women, Retired Govt Officers, Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers and Students part of our Movement. In addition to it Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement consists of people from grassroots like Laboure’s, Farmers and small businessmen. We work for people belonging to all religious faiths. The movement works with people in the remotest parts of Jammu & Kashmir. By educating local people about their rights to access information from the government. The movement empowers communities to use the right to information as a tool for peacebuilding, good governance and transparemcy in Governance in their areas.

Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement focusses on issues with the greatest impact on people’s lives and holds the public authorities and ruling class accountable towards citizens (Aam Aaadmi). Through our advocacy, campaigning and research, we work to expose the systems and networks that enable corruption, misgovernance and injustice. We always demand greater transparency, accountability and integrity in all areas of public life.
We encourage the use of RTI in all spheres like environment, public health, education, women and child welfare, civil developments, environment, civic amenities etc. with emphasis on making the RTI Act a success wherein both the applicant and the public authorities are common stakeholders.

Our Vision
Our vision is to see good governance prevails in nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir. To ensure government is accountable to people and converting the electroral democracy into participartoty one. To make sure people get the rights that are mentioned in the constitution and other legislations. To make sure citiznes live with dignity and are free from misgovernances, corruption and injustice.
We are Independent, Non-Governmental, Not-for-profit organisation and work with like-minded volunteers across the Jammu and Kashmir to educate the people about their rights under the Right to information act. We also work on implementation of other pro people legislations as well that are related to sustainable development , human rights and environment.
